New Roofs Long Ashton
Long Ashton's older stone cottages along the main road and its twentieth century houses on the roads leading off it have very different roofs. On the edge of Bristol and beside Ashton Court, roofs here take the weather fully, and when underlay, battens and tiles have all worn out together, a new roof is the lasting answer.
We have been roofing since 1993 and Long Ashton is part of our patch. A new roof starts with a free survey and a fixed written price, carries a ten year guarantee, and nothing is paid until you are happy.

How Much Does a New Roof Cost in Long Ashton?
Each new roof in Long Ashton is priced after a survey. An older cottage and a 1960s house may be similar in size but need quite different work.
The main things that affect the price are:
- The size and pitch of the roof
- The type of property, whether a terrace, semi, detached house or bungalow
- Tile or slate choice, and whether it is being matched to a period property
- The state of the timbers once the old covering is off
- Access and scaffold requirements
- Any extras such as new flashings, insulation or rooflights
- The volume of waste coming off the roof and its disposal
- Matching materials on older cottages, compared with standard tiles on more modern homes
No two roofs are the same, so we price each job on its own after a free survey, and you get a clear, fixed price in writing before any work starts.

What's Included in a New Roof
- A full strip of the old covering, felt and battens
- Inspection of rafters and timbers, with any rot replaced
- New breathable underlay and treated battens
- New tiles, or natural and fibre-cement slate, to suit the property
- Ridge, hip and verge finished with dry-fix systems where suitable
- New flashings around chimneys, valleys and abutments
- Scaffolding erected, inspected and taken down
- The site cleared and all waste removed
- A ten year guarantee in writing, with nothing to pay until you are happy
Tiled Roof Replacement in Long Ashton
Many of Long Ashton's twentieth century houses are roofed in clay or concrete tiles. When a roof like this reaches the end of its life, we strip it back to the rafters, replace any rotten timber, fit breathable underlay and treated battens, and lay new tiles.

Slate Roof Replacement
Slate appears on older Long Ashton properties and suits the character of the village. We re-roof in natural or fibre-cement slate to match, with new flashings around chimneys and abutments.

New Roofs on Period and Conservation Area Homes
Long Ashton has a conservation area and a number of older and listed properties. Replacing a roof like for like normally counts as repair and maintenance, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exception, and we will flag it at survey if we think it applies.
