New Roofs Bath
Bath's roofs are part of what makes the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Georgian terraces and crescents are largely natural slate, often hidden behind parapets with valleys behind them, while suburbs such as Weston, Larkhall and Odd Down carry a mix of slate, clay and concrete tiles. A new roof in Bath has to be right for the building as well as watertight.
We have more than thirty years of roofing behind us. Every roof replacement starts with a free survey and a fixed written price, comes with a ten year guarantee, and you pay nothing until the job is finished and you are satisfied.

How Much Does a New Roof Cost in Bath?
The price of a new roof in Bath varies more than in most places, because the buildings vary so much. A 1930s semi in Weston and a Georgian townhouse with parapets and valleys are very different jobs, and we price each one after a survey.
The main things that affect the price are:
- The size and pitch of the roof
- The type of property, whether a terrace, semi, detached house or bungalow
- Tile or slate choice, and whether it is being matched to a period property
- The state of the timbers once the old covering is off
- Access and scaffold requirements
- Any extras such as new flashings, insulation or rooflights
- The volume of waste coming off the roof and its disposal
- Whether the property is listed or in a conservation area, which can dictate the materials used and add planning time before work starts
No two roofs are the same, so we price each job on its own after a free survey, and you get a clear, fixed price in writing before any work starts.

What's Included in a New Roof
- A full strip of the old covering, felt and battens
- Inspection of rafters and timbers, with any rot replaced
- New breathable underlay and treated battens
- New tiles, or natural and fibre-cement slate, to suit the property
- Ridge, hip and verge finished with dry-fix systems where suitable
- New flashings around chimneys, valleys and abutments
- Scaffolding erected, inspected and taken down
- The site cleared and all waste removed
- A ten year guarantee in writing, with nothing to pay until you are happy
Tiled Roof Replacement in Bath
Away from the Georgian centre, many Bath homes, from interwar semis to postwar estates on the edge of the city, are tiled rather than slated. When the tiles have weathered and the underlay has failed, we strip the roof, check the timbers, and relay it with new breathable membrane, treated battens and tiles to suit the house.

Slate Roof Replacement
Natural slate is the traditional roof across Georgian and Victorian Bath. We re-roof in natural slate or fibre-cement slate to match the property, dressing new flashings into chimneys, abutments and valleys. On streets where the roofline is part of the view, the finish matters as much as the weatherproofing.

New Roofs on Period and Conservation Area Homes
Much of Bath is a conservation area and many buildings are listed. Replacing a roof like for like normally counts as repair and maintenance, but listed buildings and conservation areas are the exception, and we will flag it at survey if we think it applies to your home. We take care to match slate so the new roof sits right among its neighbours.
