Fascias and Soffits Long Ashton

Long Ashton's twentieth century houses, on the roads leading off the main road through the village, mostly have timber roofline boards that are now reaching the end of their life. On the edge of Bristol and close to open ground, those boards take plenty of weather. New uPVC fascias and soffits in Long Ashton stop the rot and end the painting.

We have been roofing since 1993 and Long Ashton is part of our patch. Every job starts with a free survey and a fixed written price, carries a ten year guarantee, and nothing is paid until you are happy.

How Much Do Fascias and Soffits Cost in Long Ashton?

The cost of fascias and soffits in Long Ashton depends on how much roofline the house has, its height, and whether gutters and bargeboards are being replaced too.

The main things that affect the price are:

  • The length of roofline to be replaced
  • The height of the house and the scaffold needed
  • How many gables, bays and bargeboards there are
  • The condition of the timber behind the old boards
  • Whether the gutters are being replaced at the same time
  • Whether dry verge is being fitted to the gables
  • The volume of old boards and waste to take away
  • The eaves detail on older stone cottages, which can differ from a modern house and change the approach

Every job is priced after a free survey, and you get a clear, fixed price in writing before any work starts.

Fascia Board Replacement in Long Ashton

When timber fascias on Long Ashton homes rot, the gutter fixed to them starts to sag. We remove the old boards, check the timber behind, and fit new uPVC fascias that hold the gutter straight.

Soffit Replacement

Split or dropped soffit boards open the eaves to damp and nesting birds. We replace them with uPVC soffits that match the new fascias.

Bargeboards and Dry Verge

Exposed gable ends in Long Ashton wear bargeboards out quickly. We replace them in uPVC and, where suitable, fit a dry verge along the gable edge.

Fascias and Guttering Replaced Together

The gutters come down when the fascias are replaced, so on most Long Ashton jobs we fit new guttering at the same time. Gutter-only work is available too.

Signs Your Fascias and Soffits Need Replacing

Look out for flaking paint, soft timber, gutters that dip or overflow and loose soffit boards. Any of these on a Long Ashton home is a good reason to get the roofline checked.

Fascias and Soffits Questions

Anything not covered here, just ask. We would rather answer a question now than have you guess.

01275 401327

What are fascias and soffits?

The fascia is the board that runs along the lower edge of the roof and carries the gutter. The soffit sits underneath it, closing the gap between the fascia and the wall. On gable ends, the boards that run up the slope of the roof are called bargeboards.

Why replace timber fascias with uPVC?

Timber needs regular painting and eventually rots, taking the gutter with it. uPVC does not need painting and does not rot, so once it is fitted there is far less to maintain.

Can you replace the gutters at the same time?

Yes. The gutters have to come down to replace the fascias anyway, so most customers have new guttering fitted at the same time and the whole roofline is new.

Do you need scaffolding?

On most houses, yes, so the work can be done safely and properly. We own our scaffold, so there is no waiting on a hire company.

Do I have to pay anything up front?

No. You get a full written estimate before we start, and you only pay once the job is finished and you are satisfied with it.

What guarantee do I get?

Every job carries a ten year guarantee, which we give you in writing when we sign the work off.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Surveys and quotes are free and there is no obligation. You get a clear written price before any work starts.

How much do new fascias and soffits cost?

It depends on the length of roofline, the height of the house and whether gutters and bargeboards are included. The cost section above sets out the main factors, or call us for a free survey and a fixed written price.
