Fascias and Soffits Bristol
On many of Bristol's older terraces, bays and semis, the fascias and soffits are still painted timber, repainted for decades until the wood underneath gives up. Across the interwar and postwar suburbs, plenty of homes still have their first boards, now peeling, splitting or sagging under the gutter. Replacing them with uPVC in Bristol ends the painting and stops the rot.
We have been roofing since 1993. Every fascia and soffit job starts with a free survey and a fixed price in writing, carries a ten year guarantee, and there is nothing to pay until the work is finished and you are happy.

How Much Do Fascias and Soffits Cost in Bristol?
The cost of new fascias and soffits in Bristol comes down mainly to how much roofline there is and how easy it is to reach. A mid terrace with a short front and back is a much smaller job than a detached house with hips, gables and bays.
The main things that affect the price are:
- The length of roofline to be replaced
- The height of the house and the scaffold needed
- How many gables, bays and bargeboards there are
- The condition of the timber behind the old boards
- Whether the gutters are being replaced at the same time
- Whether dry verge is being fitted to the gables
- The volume of old boards and waste to take away
- Scaffold on steep or narrow terraced streets, where access has to be planned around the pavement and the neighbours
Every job is priced after a free survey, and you get a clear, fixed price in writing before any work starts.

Fascia Board Replacement in Bristol
The fascia carries the gutter, so when it rots the whole gutter line starts to sag and leak. On Bristol homes we take off the tired boards, check the timber behind while it is exposed, and fit new uPVC fascias that will not need painting again. On listed buildings and some conservation area properties, uPVC may not be permitted, and we will flag it at survey if we think that applies.

Soffit Replacement
Soffits close the gap under the eaves between the fascia and the wall. On many Bristol houses they are old timber or painted board that has split or dropped, leaving gaps for damp and nesting birds. We replace them with uPVC soffits that match the new fascias.

Bargeboards and Dry Verge
Gable ends are common on Bristol's interwar semis, and the bargeboards along them take the weather full on. We replace rotten or split bargeboards in uPVC and, where suitable, fit a dry verge system along the gable so the tile edge is sealed mechanically instead of relying on mortar.

Fascias and Guttering Replaced Together
Because the gutter is fixed to the fascia, the gutters have to come off to replace the boards anyway. On most Bristol jobs it makes sense to fit new guttering at the same time, so the whole roofline is new, lined up and working together. If you only need gutter work, we do that as well.

Signs Your Fascias and Soffits Need Replacing
In Bristol the signs are usually easy to spot from the pavement: flaking paint and soft timber on the fascia, a gutter line that has started to dip, soffit boards hanging loose, or water staining running down the brickwork below the eaves. If you can see any of these, it is worth having the roofline looked at.
