Fascias and Soffits Colerne

Colerne's position high above the By Brook valley means its roofline boards take more weather than most. The later twentieth century homes beyond the older centre often have timber fascias and soffits that have split, softened or started to sag. New uPVC roofline in Colerne stands up to the exposure without the constant repainting.

We cover Colerne from our base near the Bristol and Bath border. Every job begins with a free survey and a fixed written price, carries a ten year guarantee, and you pay nothing until the work is finished and you are happy.

How Much Do Fascias and Soffits Cost in Colerne?

The cost of fascias and soffits in Colerne depends on the size of the house, the length of roofline and how exposed the gables are.

The main things that affect the price are:

  • The length of roofline to be replaced
  • The height of the house and the scaffold needed
  • How many gables, bays and bargeboards there are
  • The condition of the timber behind the old boards
  • Whether the gutters are being replaced at the same time
  • Whether dry verge is being fitted to the gables
  • The volume of old boards and waste to take away
  • Exposure on the hilltop, which often leaves gable bargeboards and verges in worse condition than the rest of the roofline

Every job is priced after a free survey, and you get a clear, fixed price in writing before any work starts.

Fascia Board Replacement in Colerne

When a fascia rots, the gutter fixed to it sags and wind-driven rain gets in behind it. We replace old boards with uPVC fascias, checking the timber behind while it is exposed.

Soffit Replacement

Split or loose soffits let damp and birds into the eaves. We fit new uPVC soffits to match the fascias.

Bargeboards and Dry Verge

Bargeboards on an exposed hilltop take the brunt of the wind. We replace them in uPVC and fit a dry verge system along the gable where suitable, so the edge tiles are held mechanically.

Fascias and Guttering Replaced Together

The gutters come down when the fascias are replaced, so most Colerne customers have new guttering fitted at the same time. Gutter-only work is available too.

Signs Your Fascias and Soffits Need Replacing

Flaking paint, soft timber, loose soffits, sagging gutters and cracked verge mortar at the gable are all common signs on Colerne homes.

Fascias and Soffits Questions

Anything not covered here, just ask. We would rather answer a question now than have you guess.

01249 851209

What are fascias and soffits?

The fascia is the board that runs along the lower edge of the roof and carries the gutter. The soffit sits underneath it, closing the gap between the fascia and the wall. On gable ends, the boards that run up the slope of the roof are called bargeboards.

Why replace timber fascias with uPVC?

Timber needs regular painting and eventually rots, taking the gutter with it. uPVC does not need painting and does not rot, so once it is fitted there is far less to maintain.

Can you replace the gutters at the same time?

Yes. The gutters have to come down to replace the fascias anyway, so most customers have new guttering fitted at the same time and the whole roofline is new.

Do you need scaffolding?

On most houses, yes, so the work can be done safely and properly. We own our scaffold, so there is no waiting on a hire company.

Do I have to pay anything up front?

No. You get a full written estimate before we start, and you only pay once the job is finished and you are satisfied with it.

What guarantee do I get?

Every job carries a ten year guarantee, which we give you in writing when we sign the work off.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Surveys and quotes are free and there is no obligation. You get a clear written price before any work starts.

How much do new fascias and soffits cost?

It depends on the length of roofline, the height of the house and whether gutters and bargeboards are included. The cost section above sets out the main factors, or call us for a free survey and a fixed written price.
